NCP's Sharad Pawar calls a meeting of non-BJP leaders and eminent people

NEW DELHI: Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik who is also a state minister on Monday said his party's chief Sharad Pawar has called a meeting of several political leaders from different parties and eminent persons at his official residence in the National Capital on Tuesday to discuss the current scenario in the country.

Tweeting of the meeting, Malik wrote, "Tomorrow Tuesday 22nd June 2021 at 11:30 am, our party President Sharad Pawar saheb will host a meeting at his residence at 6, Janpath in New Delhi."  The meeting holds significance as several opposition parties, seeking to take on the BJP, will be coming on a single platform.

As per Malik, former BJP leader who is now a Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha, former MP from Bihar Pawan Verma, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, CPI general secretary D Raja, chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Farooq Abdullah, Justice A P Singh, writer Javed Akhtar, former Rajya Sabha MP K T S Tulsi will attend the meeting.

The meeting will also be attended by veteran journalist Karan Thapar, former AAP leader Ashutosh, Adv Majeed Memon, MP Vandana Chavan, former CEC S Y Qureshi, former diplomat K C Singh, former Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha, columnist Sudheendra Kulkarni, senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves, economist Arun Kumar Economist, former MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari and former MP Pritish Nandy.

The most interesting aspect of the meeting is so far there is no mention of any representative from Congress and few non-BJP regional parties like Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, CPI(M), Rashtriya Janata Dal, DMK, BJD etc joining the meeting.
