As cases come down, India records the lowest COVID-19 caseload in 150 days

NEW DELHI: According to an update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the past 24 hours 36,571 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours with this, India's Active caseload now stands at 3,63,605 which is the lowest in 150 days.
The ministry update said that the active cases account for 1.12% of total cases which is the lowest since March 2020 and the recovery rate has increased to 97.54% which was the highest since March 2020. In terms of fatalities, the ministry has said that with 540 fresh fatalities death toll has climbed to 4,33,589.
The 540 new fatalities include 197 from Kerala and 154 from Maharashtra. Of the total of 4,33,589 deaths reported so far in the country, it includes 1,35,567 from Maharashtra, 37,088 from Karnataka, 34,639 from Tamil Nadu, 25,079 from Delhi, 22,789 from Uttar Pradesh, 19,246 from Kerala and 18,337 from West Bengal.
The health ministry continues to stress that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities and other medical conditions.
Meanwhile, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has now exceeded 57.22 Crore. The health ministry update said, "With the administration of 54,71,282 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 57.22 Cr (57,22,81,488) till 7 am today."
The testing capacity across the country also continues to be expanded and in the last 24 hours, a total of 18,86,271 tests being conducted taking India's cumulative tests conducted so far to over 50.26 Cr (50,26,99,702) COVID-19 tests.
