Rajinikanth hospitalised due to severe BP fluctuations

HYDERABAD: Superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad on Friday morning for severe blood pressure fluctuations. 

According to a statement issued by the hospital today afternoon while they were investigating and closely monitoring Rajinikanth until his blood pressure settles down, his condition was stated to be 'stable and resting.' 

The statement also said that he was shooting for a movie in the city for the past 10 days, and some of the crew members of the production team had tested positive for COVID-19, however Rajinikanth who was tested on December 22 for COVID-19 and turned out to be negative. 

Rajinikanth who turned 70 on 12 December, had been shooting for Tamil film Annaatthe in Hyderabad since December 14. 

As far as health condition is concerned Rajinikanth had suffered a mild foodborne illness on the sets of film Rana on 29 April 2011, which led to vomiting, dehydration, and exhaustion. He was then treated at St. Isabel's Hospital in Chennai for a day before being discharged. 

However five days later, he was rushed to the same hospital again after suffering from breathlessness and fever and was diagnosed with bronchitis. He was at the hospital for a week.

Two days after his discharge, Rajinikanth was again admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute on 16 May 2011 for recurring respiratory and gastrointestinal problems.

Latter in May Rajinikanth went to Singapore for further treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where he was admitted for two weeks. He returned Chennai on 13 July 2011.

The actor is also set to launch his own political party in Tamil Nadu next month, ahead of the 2021 assembly polls in the state.
